There is another condo contender on Bay Street. Yet this time, it’s at Bay and Wellesley, 955 Bay Street to be exact, smack dab in the middle between Yorkville and the Financial District.
British culture is transforming the old and horribly dated Sutton Place Hotel into an iconic residence that will rid itself of the drab concrete exterior and shine things up with a glass facade. Also, and most significantly, there will be balconies added to the structure to help bring some of the outdoors to those living in the building.
As a project by well-known-on-Bay-Street Lanterra Developments, these condos are scheduled for completion in 2016. However, much like the other three Lanterra projects on Bay Street (Murano [38 Grenville and 37 Grosvenor] and Burano [832 Bay]), expect a slightly longer timeline for competion than 2016.
This project is planning to have 41 stories and 729 units. Condos will be available at a starting price of $274,900 and units will have ceiling heights ranging from 8 ft to 10 ft and be sized between 339 sq.ft. to 844 sq.ft. Parking will be available to purchase at a cost of $45,000 per unit.
Page + Steele / IBI will be in charge of the massive architectural task of converting the hotel into a residence with the interior to be designed by Munge Leung.
You can expect the following features in the amenities area for The Britt Condos: Library lounge, board room, sauna, theatre room, bar, party room with kitchen facilities, dining room, fitness centre, yoga studio, pool and terrace.
From glancing through the sales package photos, I’d have to say that the lobby is probably one of the most impressive features of the project – an elegant set of double curved staircases and posh white graphic walls to boot! No doubt, you’ll feel like James Bond walking through a lobby like that!
